Eligibility

Property must not have been intentionally left vacant for at least 12 months prior to application. Owner must sign agreement to make property available for letting by council's housing department nominated tenants, or if not required, let at local housing allowance rent for 3 years. Property must comply with Part 1 of the Housing Act 2004, be a decent home at completion, and contain no Category 1 hazards. Leaseholders need 10+ years remaining at approval. Landlord must be a member of London Landlord Accreditation Scheme and London Rental Standard at completion; property must comply with Camden's HMO standards where applicable.

Council tax premium

A property is classed as "long-term empty" once it has been unoccupied and substantially unfurnished for a qualifying period. The premium is charged on top of the standard council tax bill.
