Deposit guarantee
Virtual deposit provided in place of a cash deposit
Eligibility

Where a council-referred tenant cannot afford a cash deposit, Newcastle Private Rented Service provides a 'virtual' deposit that acts as security against damages and rent arrears. Properties must be in good condition and affordable; the service supports tenancies with reference checks and ongoing tenancy support. Contact privaterentedservice@newcastle.gov.uk.

The property must be in good condition, meet Newcastle Accreditation Scheme standards, and rent must be no more than 15% above the LHA rate. Tenants are referred from the council's Home Finder List. Contact privaterentedservice@newcastle.gov.uk or 0191 277 1438.
